What is Mediation?
Mediation is a method of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR). This means it is outside of the normal court process for resolving a dispute between parties. Rather than having a judge hearing the case and making a decision, mediation has both parties sit down with a mediator who is trained in 1) facilitating discussion between the parties and 2) guiding the parties towards a discussion that develops into a solution to an issue.
This process is confidential, so nothing discussed can be used in court. This allows parties to discuss things that they normally wouldn't want to disclose.

Why use Mediation?
Mediation allows the parties closest to the issue to proactively and safely explore solutions to their conflict, rather than have an impersonal and binding decision handed down from an authority who is likely trying to move along quickly through an enormous burden of cases.
